What is West Virginia, really?
Please only serious responses from local residents and visitors. I'm interested in Bluefield or Charleston areas. I love nature (camping, hiking, rafting, hot springs) and want to know if these are good places to visit / live.
It is a very robust condition and has mountains and beautiful landscape. Some parts are very poor. If You'll travel in those very rural areas and camp or fish or hunt ...... Mind Your Manners and remember NO hilbilly or "sex with your sister" kind of jokes. Some (few) bars can be rough ..... do not mess with the locals. However, that is said ..... I LOVE West Virginia! My experiences with the state is limited to the southern and southeastern areas. If you drive the highways, many areas have no lights on the streets .,... and there are no street signs in many Crossings can get lost so often be easy. ... Go have a great trip ..... the people are friendly and mostly down to earth and enjoy.
